Balgowlah Suns to Shine Even Brighter with NSW Government Grant

Member for Manly James Griffin has announced a $689,700 grant for new sporting and public amenities at Balgowlah Oval, after the Balgowlah Suns Junior AFL Club’s application for funding was successful through the NSW Government’s Greater Sydney Sports Facility Fund.


The club will receive new modular amenities to incorporate accessible public toilets, change rooms, storage and a canteen to use on game days and training nights, supporting the rapid growth of the club over the past few years.

Manly-based Edify Energy Secures Approval and Financing for $450 Million NSW Solar Farm

Member for Manly James Griffin has congratulated Manly-based renewable energy company Edify Energy who received approval from the NSW Department of Planning and Environment and secured the financing for the construction of a new 275-megawatt (MW) solar power station 10km south of Darlington Point, near Griffith, NSW.


The Darlington Point Solar Farm, will be Australia’s largest solar power station, producing enough clean green electricity to power 115,000 NSW homes, which is nearly 3.5 times the number of homes in the electorate of Manly alone.

Summer Holiday Blitz for Local Schools

Public schools on the Northern Beaches will remain hives of activity over the summer holidays, as the tradespeople arrive to spruce up school grounds while students and teachers are on leave.


Almost $650,000 will be spent on school projects in the electorate of Manly, which are running over the summer holiday period.


Projects at local schools include $250,000 to Seaforth Public School for upgrades to bathroom facilities, as well as $100,000 for exterior painting at Manly Village and Manly West public schools.

Volleyfest Returns to Manly Beach

Some of the world’s best beach volleyball players will return to the iconic sands of Manly Beach next year, with Volleyfest set to take place from 1–10 March 2019.


The event has been secured exclusively for Manly by the NSW Government. Member for Manly James Griffin said Manly is the place to be in March next year.


“The 2019 event will mark the fifth Volleyfest at Manly Beach and what better place to host Australia’s premier beach volleyball event than the best beach in Australia,” Mr Griffin said.
