Manly MP Promoted with new Appointment

Member for Manly, James Griffin has been promoted to Parliamentary Secretary for Health by Premier, Gladys Berejiklian.

Mr Griffin said he welcomes his new position and is enthusiastic about meeting the challenges it will bring.

“Following the outbreak of COVID-19 there is a new emphasis on health with a particular focus on preventative measures, including good hygiene and vaccinations.

“I encourage everyone to maintain good hygiene practices and for those who are eligible, to apply for a COVID-19 vaccination – if they haven’t already done so,” Mr Griffin said

“The wider delivery of health is also important, including through the provision of modern hospital facilities in both the city and the bush.

“The NSW Ambulance Service is another key area. The response of our paramedics and support staff to medical emergencies and accidents, including those on our roads, often makes the difference between life and death. The Air Ambulance also plays a vital role in the delivery of health to rural and regional areas of the state,” Mr Griffin said.

Minister for Health, Brad Hazzard has welcomed the appointment of Mr Griffin as Parliamentary Secretary.

“Anyone who knows James knows that he is a really wonderful person who has the community at heart. I have loved working with him since he was elected and I am really looking forward to working with him in his new role which effectively makes him Assistant Minister in the big portfolio of Health.

The Health portfolio is a tough job at any time but James is landing smack in the middle of the COVID crisis and I am looking forward to the help I know he will give me and the community.

Mr Griffin said he also looks forward to continuing his role as Parliamentary Secretary for Veterans Affairs.

“Having grown up in a military family, I appreciate and understand the needs of our veterans.

“It is a privilege to serve those who have served our country and help ensure their needs are met when their service concludes,” Mr Griffin said.
