Bus Boost: Turn Up and Go from Dee Why to Chatswood

Thursday, 07 March 2019

Commuters from the Northern Beaches to Chatswood could soon throw away their timetables with plans for a new turn up and go bus service.

A re-elected Liberals and Nationals Government will start work on developing a turn up and go express bus service linking Dee Why and Chatswood.

“We want to see buses running on this route every 10 minutes between 6am and 10pm, seven days a week,” Transport and Infrastructure Minister Andrew Constance said.

“This frequent and reliable bus service will allow Northern Beaches commuters to link up with Sydney Metro services at Chatswood.”

The proposed express services would stop at the 9 following locations:

  • Dee Why B-Line Stop, Pittwater Rd, at Howard Ave
  • Narraweena – Warringah Road at Alfred Street
  • Beacon Hill – Warringah Road at Willandra Road
  • Frenchs Forest Business Park – Warringah Road at Jones Street
  • Northern Beaches Hospital – Frenchs Forest Road West
  • Forest Way Shopping Centre
  • Forestville – Warringah Road at Starkey Street
  • Roseville Chase – Babbage Road at Allan Street
  • Chatswood Interchange

Member for Manly James Griffin said, “We know commuters on the Northern Beaches have embraced the B-Line and I look forward to working with Transport for NSW and the community after the election to deliver this new public transport service.”

Mr Griffin said that this new rapid bus service would build on the over 1,000 additional weekly bus services already introduced to support the opening of the Northern Beaches Hospital.

Member for Wakehurst Brad Hazzard said, “As a local who had to ride a motor bike rain, hail and shine, to Macquarie University when I studied there, I welcome a new direct bus service on this east-west corridor.”

“The new direct service to Chatswood will save time which is very valuable to us all.”

Member for Pittwater Rob Stokes said, “This new service, together with a direct express bus between Mona Vale and Macquarie Uni, is about ensuring improved public transport from the beaches to the west.”

“We also recently committed to boosting the frequency and increasing operating hours of the E60 bus service between Mona Vale and Chatswood.”
