Grants Now Open for Canopy Cover and Cooler Suburbs

Community groups, businesses and Northern Beaches Council are being invited to apply for a share of $12.5 million in funding from the NSW Government to support increased local tree canopy cover and innovative tree planting projects.

Member for Manly James Griffin said the funding will help councils and communities enhance their tree planting activities in streets, parks and plazas.

“Our experience during the COVID-19 pandemic has shown how much we treasure our quality green, open and public spaces,” Mr Griffin said.


Reforms Deliver Fairer, Simpler Retirement Village Fees

The NSW Government will deliver fairer, more transparent fees for retirement village residents through new laws that will see exit entitlements paid more quickly when residents depart their village.

Member for Manly James Griffin said the new reforms will help retirement village residents on the Northern Beaches by improving access to exit entitlements, creating a new mechanism to support residents moving to aged care, and placing a 42-day cap on the payment of recurrent charges for general services.


Victims of Domestic Violence Urged to 'Speak Out'

Domestic violence victim-survivors on the Northern Beaches and across NSW are the focus of a new advertising campaign that encourages victims to contact the NSW Domestic Violence Line, a 24/7 counselling and referral service, for confidential support.

Member for Manly James Griffin said COVID-19 restrictions have potentially increased the challenges victims face when seeking help.
