JAMES GRIFFIN MP AND MANLY WARD COUNCILLORS STAND UP TO SAVE THE HOP SKIP JUMP BUS

Member for Manly James Griffin MP and Manly Ward councillors have today urged Northern Beaches Council to do the right thing by the people of Manly and save the Hop Skip Jump bus.

James Griffin MP said this morning: “The Hop Skip Jump bus service is a lifeline to many in our community. Manly does the heavy lifting when it comes to driving the Northern Beaches economy, more than offsetting the cost of the Hop Skip Jump service. Removing this service would be a huge blow to our less mobile residents who use the bus to stay engaged in the community. The Hop Skip Jump bus has become an integral part of our community that is relied upon by so many”.

UNLOCKING MORE OPPORTUNITIES FOR PEOPLE TO GET SKILLED FOR WORK

Local people are being encouraged to explore opportunities to get a first job, a new job or a better job as part of National Careers Week (16-22 May).

Member for Manly James Griffin MP said the NSW Government is funding a range of fee-free and low-fee training courses to help people get the skills they need for the jobs they want.

“We want to turbocharge the take-up of vocational education and training by slashing the cost of courses and helping people get skilled for jobs,” Mr Griffin said.

“The NSW Government’s record infrastructure investment is creating jobs and driving demand for skilled workers in everything from traditional trades to new and emerging industries.

MANLY CHEERS ITS LOCAL VOLUNTEERS

James Griffin MP Member for Manly will give recognition to prominent volunteers in the community as part of the new Community Heroes Initiative.

“There are many individuals in Manly who contribute so much of their time to helping our community organisations, local clubs, sporting groups and businesses,” Mr Griffin said.

“The NSW Community Heroes Certificates are one way we can show our appreciation to volunteers everywhere. Volunteers are quiet achievers, always displaying selfless acts of service and I’m glad we can celebrate them with these certificates.”
