Northern Beaches Vaccination Rates 4th Highest in Australia

The people of the Northern Beaches have embraced vaccination with enthusiasm. The latest data shows 66.3% of Northern Beaches residents have received their first dose. This figure places the Northern Beaches LGA in 4th place (of 89) nationally when comparing vaccination rates by region across Australia.

More than 6 million people across NSW have been vaccinated. 35.8% of Northern Beaches residents are fully vaccinated.

Member for Manly and Parliamentary Secretary for Health, James Griffin said the effort of local GP’s, pharmacists and NSW Health Hubs was outstanding and very much appreciated. I would also like to thank the news outlets and publications of the Northern Beaches for sharing the ‘Don’t Wait. Vaccinate’ campaign which has clearly been successful.

“At the beginning of this month I asked people to ‘stand up and be counted’ by getting their vaccination. We can be enormously proud of our efforts so far, but we must keep up the momentum,” Mr Griffin said.

“The level of vaccination will make it easier for us to live with the virus in the same way we do with other viruses like the flu.”

Mr Griffin said, “Businesses of the Northern Beaches, let alone NSW, cannot have another interrupted tourism season, cafes need certainty to buy stock, businesses need a clear message to hire new staff, and parents need to know their children will be back learning.

We have a plan. We must stick to it. That involves all of us doing our bit. It means getting vaccinated.”

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has announced that the COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine will be made available to all Australians aged 16–39 from 30 August.

Bookings are not yet available and are expected to come online in the coming weeks.
