Manly's Streets Transformed as Shared Spaces

Two popular Manly locations are among four across the Northern Beaches to undergo temporary transformations to improve pedestrian connections, thanks to $875,000 in funding from the NSW Government’s Streets as Shared Spaces program.

Member for Manly James Griffin said the project will improve connections at Darley Road, Whistler Street and Kangaroo Lane in Manly as well as The Serpentine in Bilgola Beach, providing better access to public spaces so the community can relax, exercise and enjoy.

New Community Voice for Beaches Link Open Space Plan

A new Balgowlah open space community reference group will be set up, providing a fresh opportunity for the community to inform the exciting new public open space plans for Balgowlah.

Member for Manly James Griffin said the group will build on the consultation already carried out and work in partnership with the NSW Government and Northern Beaches Council.

“A new sporting and recreational precinct for Balgowlah is among the commitments we’re making to ensure the long-term benefits of Beaches Link are experienced across our local community,” Mr Griffin said.

Remembering the End of the Second World War

Member for Manly James Griffin will join the local community to pause and reflect on Australia’s efforts in the Second World War as we mark the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Pacific (VP Day).

VP Day on August 15, 1945 was the official end of a war in which nearly 1 million Australians served in the armed forces. More than 39,000 Australians lost their lives, more than 23,000 were wounded, and more than 30,000 were taken prisoner of war.

“This legacy is as strong on the Northern Beaches today as it was 75 years ago, when Victory in the Pacific was declared,” Mr Griffin said.
