Have Your Say on North Head Sanctuary

Member for Manly James Griffin has urgently called on the Northern Beaches community to have their voice heard on the future of North Head before the conclusion of the Sydney Harbour Trust’s community engagement on 30 November, 2020.

“Following the conclusion of the Harbour Trust’s review, the Trust has commenced refreshing its approach to North Head Sanctuary,” Mr Griffin said.

“This includes a renewed focus on the natural environmental, as a place of significance to First Nations people, and preserving and interpreting our nation’s military history.”

“I advocated fiercely on behalf of the community to ensure the future of North Head was secure, and like many I was pleased with the outcome of the review.

“The $40 million funding announcement by the Morrison Government was a strong result for locals who enjoy the wonderful grounds at North Head.

“It is vital that people have their say and participate in the new round of engagement and work with the Trust to determine the future of North Head Sanctuary.”

In September 1998, the Commonwealth Government announced the establishment of the Sydney Harbour Federation Trust, known also as the Harbour Trust – a statutory agency tasked with rehabilitating former Defence and other Commonwealth lands around Sydney Harbour, conserving their natural and built heritage, and returning them to the people of Australia.
