James Griffin Pours First Beer for Locals as Manly Opens Up

Member for Manly, James Griffin MP joined locals at Manly Wharf Bar to mark the reopening of New South Wales by pouring the first beer at the Manly Wharf Hotel Jetty bar today.

Mr Griffin said “It’s a great to see our lives starting to return to normal and fantastic to see the Northern Beaches have one of the highest and fastest Vaccination rates in the world”.

“Like many people on the Northern Beaches, I am so excited to be able to visit family and friends again. I’m looking forward to celebrating my Mum’s birthday this evening”.

Having worked alongside our local small business owners and operators for the past 18 months, I know how much this milestone day means to them. I encourage everyone to continue being cautious and careful as we reopen.”

Manly Wharf Bar Licensee Ms Lou Edney said, “Today has been a long time coming, We are thrilled to welcome back patrons to enjoy time with friends and family over a meal and a beer. We are looking forward to the summer ahead”

Following the State reaching the 70% Vaccination target last Wednesday Mr Griffin said he was enormously proud of the efforts made by the Northern Beaches community to do their part and roll their sleeves up. Mr Griffin encouraged everyone to get out and support businesses as they ramp back up for a busy summer period.

Mr Griffin said he was enormously grateful to the GP’s, Pharmacists and Healthcare professionals who had played such an important role in the vaccination rollout. “I pay tribute to former Premier Berejiklian, Dr Kerry Chant, and the NSW Health team. There are still bumpy days ahead, but we should take a moment to reflect on where we are today.”
