MANLY MP TAKES THE LEAD

Manly MP, James Griffin is taking the lead on ‘Making Manly Great Again’.

Mr Griffin will host a business forum this Wednesday (17 April) to bring local economic leaders together to forge the best way forward.

“Manly Hospo and Visitor Economy Operators have been invited to present their best ideas for revitalising the local economy,” Mr Griffin said.

“Post COVID, I worked alongside a variety of stakeholders, including the Manly Business Chamber, to help get our local economy back on its feet.

“Some legacies from that effort continue today, including the ‘Night at The Barracks’ Program, but there have been some ‘speed bumps’ along the way.

“Data continues to show that despite huge tourist numbers, the yield per visit is not as high as it should be, nor is the visitation year-round.

“It’s time to rebuild some momentum for Manly and surrounding suburbs.

“I believe the brand ‘Manly’ can deliver a year-round sustainable economy that decreases reliance on summer trade and ‘Corso-centric’ tourism,” Mr Griffin said.

Guest speakers at the forum will include the Producers of the highly successful ‘Night at the Barracks’ and the General Manager, Tourism, NRMA, Michael Betteridge, who was formerly with Destination NSW.

Mr Griffin said, “I have always found that great outcomes can be delivered through unexpected partnerships – and sometimes that means bringing competitors together.

“So, I thought it was about time we got together,” Mr Griffin said.

“The occasion provides a fantastic opportunity for local operators and owners to meet each other, network and grow collaboratively.

“We’ll be focussed on ‘Making Manly Great Again’, Mr Griffin concluded.
