New School Crossing Supervisors Earn their Zebra Crossing Stripes

Member for Manly James Griffin today announced that Manly Village Public School has a new school crossing supervisor.

“Last month we announced the roll out of 300 new school crossing supervisors was being fast tracked,” Mr Griffin said.

“I’m glad to see that one of these important roles has been filled in our community and is already on the ground ready to keep our kids safe, ensuring the safety of our vulnerable road users.”

The new crossing supervisor, David Gray, is among the first of 80 school crossing supervisors who are part of the first wave of new recruits for schools across the state.

Mr Griffin said the new school crossing supervisors have had health, working with children and police checks along with three days of training, which included one day in the classroom and  “work placement” with an experienced school crossing supervisor to ensure they are fully up to speed with the requirements of their new role.

“School crossing supervisor positions for other schools are now being advertised and I would encourage community members with a couple of hours to spare on weekday mornings and afternoons to visit”
