Free Tutoring to Support Northern Beaches Students

For the first time in NSW, students will receive free tutoring in 2021 thanks to a landmark $337 million program as part of the NSW 2020-2021 Budget.

This program will provide support for students after a disruptive school year.

The Government will employ up to 5500 additional staff to deliver small-group tuition at every NSW government school, as well as non-government schools with the most significant levels of need.

Member for Manly, James Griffin said he is thrilled to see the government is committed to ensuring students’ educational outcomes continue to improve in 2021.

$125K for Northern Beaches War Memorial Repair

Northern Beaches groups could share in $125,000 to conserve the region’s tributes to servicemen and servicewomen with round two of the Community War Memorials Fund opening on Remembrance Day.

Member for Manly, James Griffin said grants of up to $10,000 are available for projects that repair, protect and conserve existing war memorials throughout NSW.

“Northern Beaches will always recognise the service and sacrifice of our locals because we are proud of our military history which helped build the strong region we call home today,” Mr Griffin said.

NSW Government Launches Landmark Suicide Monitoring System

The NSW Government has introduced the state’s first ever Suicide Monitoring System, which will provide up-to-date data for health and support services about the number of suicide deaths across the state.

Member for Manly, James Griffin said the Suicide Monitoring System will inform critical decisions about services and local health responses in communities impacted by suicide.

“Instead of relying on two year-old data released by the ABS, we now have near real-time data that means we can be more responsive and target services to current community needs,” Mr Griffin said.
